On the 11th and 12th of April 2015, the Blaye Spring Wine Festival- the “Printemps des Vins de Blaye” – makes a big come-back this year in celebration of its 20th anniversary! This unmissable event from the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, will be held, as it is each year, in the sumptuous surroundings of Blaye’s Citadel, a Unesco classified monument.
Two days of discussions and tastings!
This weekend will be placed under the banner of friendship and sharing: Visitors are invited to meet 80 Winemakers and enjoy their wines in a warm atmosphere! A wonderful opportunity for wine lovers to discover or rediscover the diversity of the appellation’s wines. “It is the major annual gathering for the appellation’s winegrowers and for wine enthusiasts. There is a friendly, family atmosphere with a great deal of interaction, the winegrowers would not miss this event for the world,” said Franck Jullion, winemaker and President of the appellation.
New this year: a tasting book will be available at the reception on request.
Free workshops and activities!
The Spring Wine Festival also has a varied program of free workshops and activities (reservations on the same day). Professionals will offer introductions to wine tasting, blending workshops so you can create your own wine, cooking demonstrations and even oenomagic performances!
As with every year, visitors can explore the architectural and natural heritage, by the little train, by horse-drawn carriage, by boat on the estuary and even from the sky in a helicopter, with ‘baptisms by air’ scheduled on Sunday.
And for music lovers, many musical events will take place over the weekend.
“Our goal is to change constantly to surprise the 15,000 expected visitors. People come to the Spring Wine festival primarily to taste our wines and they come back for the winegrowers and the activities.” added Mickael Rouyer, Director of the appellation.
New this year: come by boat from Bordeaux!
For its 21st anniversary, the “Printemps des Vins de Blaye” festival begins … in Bordeaux! In fact, for only €49, the public will embark on a wine tasting cruise, on the estuary, on Sunday, 12th April from Bordeaux. A training course to initiate you in wine tasting will accompany planchers of cold cuts and cheese, a guided tour of the estuary and the entry fee to the Spring Wine festival will be included for cruise passengers on the day.
