The winegrowers from Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux await you in Paris on 15 and 16 October 2014. Come and meet the men and women who make the wine you love in the 50 or so bars and restaurants in the capital taking part in the operation.
Blaye au Comptoir Paris 2014: tastings and a friendly atmosphere
It has become a mid-October tradition in Paris. For nearly 20 years now, the winemakers from Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux have been coming to Paris in person to give you an opportunity to taste their wines. The principle is simple: in one of the bars, restaurants or wine bars taking part, the winemaker offers you the first glass and answers all your questions. You can then order more wine at the bar or buy a bottle at the château price. “It’s a very warm and authentic experience“, says Cendrine Caillier, communication officer for Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux wines. “It’s quite unusual to be able to talk about the wine you’re drinking with the person who made it. This is a very straightforward way of doing it.” Her view is shared by Nicolas Vergez of Château La Cassagne-Boutet: “The aim is to have a good time and show people that we love what we do.” You can also order your favourite wine by the case.
Blaye au Comptoir: wine bars join in the fun
Wine bars take pride of place in this 19th edition of Blaye au Comptoir Paris. In addition to the bistros and restaurants who have been taking part for a number of years, Blaye winegrowers await you in these new venues run by young people with a passion for wine. “Wine bars are very good places for talking about wine. You can really explain how as small winemakers we take our decisions in order to produce high-quality wine”, says Nicolas Vergez. Himself a young winemaker, he will spend the two days at Barav, a bar, restaurant and wine shop in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. Nicolas Vergez will be offering tastings of his Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation premium wine, “a predominantly Merlot blend matured in oak, with seductive fruit”.
#blayeparis, an online event!
As all wine-lovers know, the pleasure of wine lies not only in drinking it but also in sharing it. This year, with the hashtag #blayeparis, you can exchange with others on social media. “The idea is to stimulate interaction so that people can comment live on the wines they like best“, says Cendrine Caillier. There is also a Blaye au Comptoir Paris 2014 website, listing all the wine bars, bistros and restaurants taking part and enabling you to organise your itinerary. Fifty bars and restaurants mean fifty wines and winegrowers for you to discover. As Nicolas Vergez says, “the winegrower is always partially responsible for the style of the wine”. Come and meet the people who make the wines you love!
