The Blaye Spring Wine Festival, the wine-tourism event which brings together 80 winemakers in the Blaye Citadel, returns on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th of April for its 22nd annual celebration. Meetings, workshops, entertainment and things to explore will be programmed throughout the week–end to highlight the warmth and diversity of this appellation’s wines.
AN UNMISSABLE EVENT
Last year, with nearly 15,000 entries and 8,000 tasting PASSES sold in 2 days, the Spring Wine Festival once more demonstrated its ability to unite a wide public, as it does each year, and it is now established as a highlight of Bordeaux’s wine-tourism calendar.
“The Spring Wine festival has built its reputation over the years and today is one of the not-to-be-missed events for wine lovers. But as well as the connoisseurs, it is an event which attracts people of all ages, tourists and family groups. We are very enthusiastic about the idea of introducing our wines to this new audience.” said Mickaël Rouyer, Director of the appellation.
A significant event, under the banner of friendliness and sharing.
THE PROGRAM : TASTINGS, BUT THAT’S NOT ALL !
Of the winegrowers, there will be approximately 80 offering tastings and available to chat informally with wine lovers in the Blaye Citadel, registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2008. Face-to-face contact with winegrowers where proximity and friendliness go hand-in-hand.
Each year the entertainment program which is full of discoveries and surprises and included in the tasting PASS, contributes to the success of the Spring Wine festival. As well as the discovery workshops (Introduction to tasting, blending workshop, oenomagic workshop and food and wine pairing) which should make the wine lovers happy; guided tours of the Citadel, the little tourist train, the horse-drawn carriage rides and boat rides on the estuary will delight both adults and children. For the gourmets, a gourmet market will provide visitors with an opportunity to enjoy refreshments on site thanks to the local producers who come to offer their specialities. Finally, visitors will be able to come to the Spring Wine festival by boat departing from Bordeaux, embarking on a Wine tasting cruise on the estuary on Sunday 10th April.
A varied program which should delight old and young alike !
